the FAMILY WAY...

Neil and Rebecca are married with five children.  In 2016 they moved from a terraced house in Cardiff to pursue their farming dream on Rebecca’s parents farm in Rhydri, South Wales.

Neil was brought up in New Zealand where he worked on dairy, arable and sheep stud farms.  Neil has also worked extensively with a charity, Just Earth, that seeks to increase the productivity of farming communities in Kenya, Haiti and Uganda.

Alongside being busy at home with five children and helping Neil where possible, Rebecca works part time in the Welsh Government.

All the children are encouraged to get involved in farm life, this includes help with animal chores, running a flock of chickens, and much, much more.

Farm History

Rebecca's parents  Andrew and Gill have lived on Pantglas Farm for almost 30 years. For much of that time they have established a flock and herd with much care and enthusiasm, from which Neil and Rebecca have been inspired to continue on.

“We love farming British breeds that thrive on the farm and become a proud part of the landscape.”

Since moving to Rebecca’s parents farm, grazing techniques have been implemented that combine Neil’s experience of New Zealand farming with what he has learned from African farmers and agronomists.

Neil and Rebecca continue to farm the Traditional Hereford Cattle and Hill Radnor Sheep.  These are both rare breeds that are native to the United Kingdom, and are exceptionally well suited to a South Wales hill farm.
