As well as selling breeding animals, we sell lamb meat by ‘half lamb boxes,’ with a mixture of cuts such as leg, shoulder, chops and breast. We also sell smaller packs of lamb meat if you have less space in your freezer. Lamb meat is available from the early summer right until Christmas. In the late spring we also sell meat from year old lamb or ‘hogget,’ a sumptuous combination of flavour and tenderness.
Our very popular burgers are also available in the warmer months, made from lamb and the more mature mutton meat.
Our flock of Hill Radnor Sheep are grass fed and reared outdoor year round. They are a hardy hill breed who mother well. We also use cross-bred sheep with other hill breeds such as Black Welsh Mountain. Neil carefully selects each animal based on lambing rate, hardiness and size. This means healthy, happy animals and great tasting lamb.
We find that grazing sheep and cattle together on the farm works to improve soil strength, animal health and grass growth. We do not use any chemical fertilizers on the land.
“I record the health and growth of each animal through the year. This helps us to select the best animals for breeding that will suit our grass fed system. Lambing is one of my favourite times of the year when I see again the results of the breeding choices I have made.” Neil
